Luke 22:31-34
[A] – ACCEPT / RECEIVE GOD’S WORD:
I will direct my heart and mind to meditate on God’s Word today. But first I will pray so that God’s Word will change my life today.
Luke 22:31-34 >>
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. 32But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”
33 Peter said, “Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even to die with you.”
34 But Jesus said, “Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.”
[C] – CONTEMPLATE / MEDITATE ON:
I believe God is speaking to me through His word; therefore, I want to respond to it earnestly so that I will experience transformation in both mind and character.
1. Ponder: What’s God’s advice for Peter?
2. What should I do to my friends who are backsliding after I, myself turned back from my sinful way? [verse 32]
[T] – TAKE ACTION / APPLY:
Today I will share my testimony about God’s kindness with a friend in God who starts to backslide.
DECLARATION OF GOD’S WORD:
Declare God’s word from Monday-Saturday, and also add Psalm 23:6 “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.”
[S] – SHARE / STRENGTHEN:
I will share today’s devotional with my family members and pray for one another in agreement prayers.
LESSON:
Jesus promised something to Peter, which every born-again believer needs – that’s a second chance (Luke 22:31-34). After letting them know that Satan is going to sift them like wheat, Jesus reassured Peter that He had prayed for him so that his faith would not fail. Although Peter was confident that he would not forsake Him, Jesus told him that before the rooster crows the next morning, he would have denied Him three times. With the hope that Peter would be restored, He assigned him a task; that was to strengthen others (verse 32).
If you’re like Peter who repented and turned back again, you’ll believe that God can give you a second chance. Confess your sins and receive forgiveness, restoration, and healing from Him (1 John 9).
GOD’S FORGIVENESS ALWAYS OFFERS A SECOND CHANCE
